Housework + Kids + Work = No Time For The Ladies

So, this is what Women's Lib got us.....The value of maintaining a household and caring for children is still monetarily unrecognized for its cultural and, ultimately, its financial value.

My experience is that it was me who was the primary caregiver for my children, housekeeper for our home, and still working a stressful job (only partially irrelevantly, also a whipping-girl to my spouse).

When the kids are sick, who stays home with them? The ladies - typically because men's positions are still much higher paying. The ladies' jobs take the not-a-team-player or poor attendance hit in their jobs.

Who are still the primary caregivers for not only kids, but sick and elderly relatives? The ladies.

Who keeps the house a home? The ladies.

Who gets traded in for a younger model after giving years of unpaid labor to her family? The ladies.

Folks without kids typically move up the ladder more quickly than those with kids. Kidless folks have only themselves to care for, and so do not have to miss work for sick kids, kids' recitals, kids' sports, etc. They do not have to leave work on the dot to dash for the childcare facility, stop by the grocery store, help the kids with their homework, feed the kids, bathe the kids and tell the kids bedtime stories. The result is that parents typically aren't going to make as much as non-parents.

Much bigger tax breaks for working parents needed, especially, of course, for the primary care givers for children, elderly and sick.
